The week before we did our Wine Tasting adventure I read an article on
Villicana Winery was a new name to us which is quite sad since it's one of the oldest wineries in Paso. The cool thing about Villicana is they are also the one and only distillery in San Luis Obispo County. My husband has a crazy hobby of distilling so he was super excited for this stop.
Like I mentioned Villicana has been around for quite some time.
They were one of the first 20 wineries -
now there is over 300 in the Paso region.
We had the tasting room to ourselves which is always fun because you get to feel like your on a VIP tour of the winery.
What's good you ask?
Just about all of it!
We left with a few bottles of the 2010 Estate Mourvedre (94% Mourvèdre, 5% Syrah, 1% Viognier) as well as the 2011 Estate Zinfandel (100% Zinfandel) .
There were only 129 cases of the Mourvedre produced, so you really feel like your part of the cool in crowd when you are drinking Villicana wine.
After we finished our wine tasting we moved into the distillery where I let my hubby loose. He was in his element and had a blast talking distilling. Re:Find took their name because they use left over grapes to do their distilling. They aren't wasting anything that comes from their vineyards.
Villicana and Re:Find was a great stop. We made new friends, got some great wine and a few bottles of very good brandy along the way. If you are in the Paso area consider stopping by and saying hello to them.
They are located on the west side of Paso Robles at
2725 Adelaida Road.
